Plant Integration Engineer - Civil Structural and Architecture - Remote

System One is seeking a highly motivated Plant Integration Engineer for the Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) integration team on Natrium advanced nuclear reactor projects. This role supports the development of requirements and strategies for first-of-a-kind nuclear facility design, overseeing work products, and ensuring successful integration of civil, structural, and architectural design and construction. The candidate will coordinate with engineers working on structures, systems, components, and analyses to ensure requirements are met. Extensive experience in civil/structural design, analysis for hazards, project coordination, and review is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural design bases and strategies supporting plant design and licensing, including risk-informed approaches for external hazards.
• Maintain and review requirements and specifications for integration with plant design.
• Collaborate with design disciplines to develop design information and criteria.
• Ensure licensing and code requirements are incorporated into the design.
• Oversee review of civil, structural, and architectural work products for project configuration.
• Support plant engineering decisions as a SME in civil, structural, and architectural integration.
• Coordinate analyses such as soil-structure interaction, seismic models, and risk assessments.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of design organizations and contractors.
• Participate in design and integration reviews and resolve technical issues.
• Assist in integrating plant information into licensing documents for regulatory approval.

Key Qualifications and Skills

• MS in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years in civil/structural design, analysis, or risk assessment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and solve complex problems.
• Experience with nuclear plant design projects and risk-informed methodologies.
• Knowledge of structural design for hazards like seismic and impact loads.
• Familiarity with relevant codes (e.g., IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE, NRC, DOE).
• Ability to manage projects with multiple objectives and disciplines.
• Experience with quality standards such as NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
