Job summary

Orion S.A. in Texas seeks a Plant Engineer to lead plant infrastructure improvements and support process and reliability engineering.

You will identify repair needs, develop project proposals, and collaborate with the plant project engineer to define scope and ensure projects stay within budget.

Experience in refining or chemical manufacturing, strong vendor relations, and SAP proficiency are required for this role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering; degree strongly preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in refining, natural resource extraction, or specialty chemical manufacturing.
  • Ability to develop and sell ideas to improve cost, schedule, and execution.
  • Experience preparing specifications, issuing requisitions, evaluating bids, and dealing effectively with vendors.
  • Familiarity with standard industrial construction techniques and OSHA standards.
  • Proficiency in SAP and one or more common project management software tools.

Responsibilities

  • Identify infrastructure and equipment that needs to be repaired, replaced, or improved.
  • Develop proposals for projects to correct deficiencies with the area of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with the plant project engineer to prepare packages for contractors and vendors and define project scope.
  • Ensure that projects stay within budget and alert the plant manager when there are exceptions.
  • Support reliability, process, and production engineering tasks and initiatives during peak demand periods or when additional assistance is required.
  • Define, prepare, and submit purchase requisitions into SAP.
  • Ensure that projects conform to applicable company standards, codes, and industry best practices.
