Job summary

ADM is seeking a Plant Human Resources Specialist for its Decatur, IL facility. This on-site role delivers administrative HR support, onboarding, employee records maintenance, HRIS transactions, attendance and leave administration, benefits, and reporting while upholding confidentiality.

You will partner with the HR Manager and plant leaders to handle recruiting coordination, data audits, and HR process improvements, with a focus on accuracy and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to HR and assist with routine processes.
  • Maintain confidential employee records and HR documentation.
  • Process HRIS changes including transfers, promotions, and terminations.
  • Assist with HR data audits and accuracy of HR information.
  • Coordinate recruiting activities and interview scheduling with Talent Acquisition COE.
  • Oversee onboarding activities, required documents, and system access.
  • Maintain onboarding/offboarding documentation and follow up on items.
  • Track attendance and HR-related metrics and support leave processes.
  • Assist with FMLA, leaves of absence, accommodations, and documentation.
  • Support benefits enrollment and routine questions.
  • Prepare HR reports and correspondence.
  • Maintain seniority lists and union-related records when applicable.
  • Support payroll-related HR transactions and research discrepancies.
  • Assist with audits, compliance, and record retention.
  • Provide HR information and escalate complex queries to HR Manager.
  • Support employee recognition, engagement activities, and HR communications.

This is a full time, non-exempt position 100% on-site

Summary:

The HR Specialist will report to and partner with the HR Manager, Decatur, IL location. This position will provide administrative and transactional HR support for colleagues and leaders within the Corn plant. The HR Specialist will support recruiting, onboarding, employee records, HRIS transactions, attendance and leave administration, benefits, reporting, and other HR processes while maintaining confidentiality and providing excellent customer service.

  • An individual who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple HR administrative processes while meeting deadlines.
  • An individual who demonstrates strong customer service, communication, confidentiality, and follow-through when supporting colleagues and leaders.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Human Resources department and assist with routine HR processes.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files, HR records, and documentation.
  • Process routine employee changes in the HRIS, including transfers, promotions, job changes, status changes, and terminations.
  • Assist with employee data audits and ensure HR information is accurate and current.
  • Assist with recruitment by working with Talent Acquisition COE and plant colleagues, including scheduling interviews, communicating with candidates, and following up on pre-employment requirements.
  • Coordinate new colleague onboarding activities, including required documentation, I-9 completion, orientation, system access, badges, and onboarding checklists.
  • Maintain onboarding and offboarding documentation and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Maintain attendance and other HR-related trackers and provide administrative support for leave and return-to-work processes.
  • Assist with FMLA, leave of absence, accommodations, and other absence-related documentation under the direction of the HR team.
  • Assist with benefits enrollment, employee status changes, and routine benefits questions.
  • Prepare HR forms, letters, reports, spreadsheets, and other documentation.
  • Prepare routine HR reports, including headcount, turnover, staffing, attendance, and other HR metrics.
  • Maintain seniority lists, position bidding documentation, and other HR records required in a union environment.
  • Provide administrative support for grievance and labor relations activities as directed by the HR Manager.
  • Assist with payroll-related HR transactions and research routine payroll or benefit discrepancies.
  • Support HR audits, compliance requirements, and record retention processes.
  • Serve as a resource for routine HR administrative questions and elevate complex employee relations, policy, or contract matters to the HR Manager or appropriate HR team member.
  • Assist with colleague recognition, engagement activities, HR communications, and department events.
  • Support HR projects, process improvements, and other initiatives as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • AS/AAS in Business, Human Resources, or related field is preferred.
  • BA/BS in Business, Human Resources, or related field is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of administrative, Human Resources, payroll, recruiting, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience with an HRIS preferred.
  • Manufacturing or union environment experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an at-will position and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

$45,700.00 - $85,000.00
