Job summary

Great Lakes Cheese in Ohio seeks an HR Supervisor to oversee day-to-day HR operations, supervising the plant HR Generalists and HR Specialists, and ensuring HR programs, employee relations processes, workforce engagement, and compliance across the plant.

This role serves as the front-line HR resource for employees and supervisors, providing guidance on routine HR matters and acting as back-up to the HR Manager to maintain continuous 24/7 HR services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, or commensurate experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive HR experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrated strong and professional people communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, troubleshoot, and problem solve.
• Strong time management skills.
• Familiar with HR policies and procedures (employment law and compliance - FMLA, Workers Compensation, ADA, Employee Relations, etc.).
• Ability to collaborate and make independent decisions based on management expertise and standard practice.
• Must be legally authorized to work for a company in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Supervise HR Generalists/Specialists in delivering HR processes, policies, procedures, and employee engagement across the plant.
• Serve as the first-level escalation point for routine employee relations matters for hourly employees, guiding supervisors and employees.
• Partner with operations supervisors to support hourly staffing, employee development, attendance, and workplace improvements.
• Oversee execution of core processes: 30-60-90 day reviews, New Hire Appraisal Monitoring, and internal job postings.
• Support administration, tracking, data collection, and compliance for FMLA, ADA, WC, LOA requests.
• Foster a positive, safe, inclusive environment and liaise between employees and leadership.
• Coordinate and facilitate employee meetings, recognition programs, and engagement events.
• Oversee hourly talent acquisition, representing the company at events and job fairs.
• Ensure compliance with HR policies and regulatory requirements; assist audits and maintain records.
• Review HR metrics and provide recommendations to HR Manager and Plant Leadership.
