Job summary

Saint-Gobain's CertainTeed facility in L'Anse, Michigan, is hiring for a training-focused production role. You will learn manufacturing skills on 12-hour rotating shifts (11:00–23:00 / 23:00–11:00) with overtime as needed.

The starting wage is $23.96 per hour, increasing to $24.17 after 480 hours of probation. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a safety-first mindset, and are able to lift up to 50 lbs and climb stairs.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules and company handbook.
• Adhere to standard operating procedures.
• Set up line per equipment settings.
• Assist with changeovers, setups, adjustments, or shutdowns.
• Fill maintenance work orders; assist technicians.
• Maintain product quality on the production line.
• Monitor product using WCM tools.
• Track metrics to close out work orders.
• Help minimize wastes using WCM tools.
• Maintain good housekeeping per duties and improve gaps.
• Perform Autonomous Maintenance on equipment.
• Operate forklift as needed.
• Keep tools and equipment in good condition.

What's the job?

The CertainTeed facility in L'Anse, Michigan, manufactures ceiling tiles. We work together to create an environment that teaches our employees manufacturing skills.

We are looking to train energetic, dedicated team members to join our family. We offer training and on-the-job experience that will help you hone your skills in manufacturing.

Schedule: 12-hour rotating swing shifts (OT as scheduled). Shifts are 11AM to 11PM and 11PM to 11AM. Flexibility on short notice as overtime may be assigned.

Salary: Starting wage is $23.96 per hour with an increase to $24.17 after 480 hours worked probation period.

• Following all safety rules and rules as established in the employee handbook
• Follow standard operating procedures
• Set up line following established equipment settings
• May assist operators with changeovers, set-ups, adjustments, and/or shutdowns
• Fills out maintenance work orders and assists Maintenance Technicians as needed
• Maintains quality of the product on the production line by ensuring product standards are being followed
• Continually monitors product to detect and resolve issues utilizing WCM tools
• Tracks and/or fills out metrics required to accurately close out production work orders
• Aids in minimizing/elimination of process wastes- Transportation, Inventory, Motion, Waiting (Product or Resources), Over-processing, Overproduction, and Defects using WCM tools
• Maintains good housekeeping as established by Operator Duty Sheets and identifies gaps and areas for improvement
• Performs Autonomous Maintenance (CIT clean/lube, inspect, and tighten) on production equipment
• Operates forklift as needed
• Maintains tools and equipment in good working condition

Education: Minimum of High School Diploma or GED

• Previous work experience in manufacturing is a plus, but not required
