Insteel Industries in Florida is seeking a Plant General Manager to lead manufacturing operations, uphold safety, quality, and continuous improvement, and direct a team of 35–45 employees. The role emphasizes ALARA principles and Zero Harm culture.
You will drive budgeting, collaborate with product and sales teams, and oversee engineering, maintenance, and capital projects while continuously improving processes and performance in a heavy manufacturing environment.
The Plant General Manager directs and coordinates activities of subordinate supervisors to ensure production, quality, safety, and continuous improvement objectives are met. Works daily to ensure areas of responsibility are working at risk lowered to ALARA specifically in an effort to achieve ZERO HARM.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Manages 4-5 supervisors who supervise a total of 35-45 employees in the facility. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises one non-supervisory employee. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Physical demands in a heavy manufacturing environment are significantly more strenuous and require a high level of physical fitness and stamina. Workers are frequently required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, and lift or carry heavy materials—often over 50 pounds—throughout their shift. Tasks may involve operating or working near heavy machinery, using hand and power tools, and performing repetitive motions. Employees must also be able to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, loud noise, and other environmental factors such as dust, vibration, and slippery surfaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, and physical agility, coordination, and situational awareness are critical to performing job duties safely and effectively in an industrial setting.

The work environment for this position is an industrial manufacturing plant, with employees regularly exposed to physical and environmental challenges. Workers are continuously (70–100% of the time) around moving and potentially dangerous machinery and are subject to loud noise levels that require hearing protection. Frequently (30–70% of the time), they may encounter heat from both weather and industrial processes, as well as cold weather conditions. Occasionally (up to 30% of the time), the environment may include wet or humid conditions, slippery floors or ramps, vibration from equipment, exposure to outside weather, dust, electrical shock hazards, and contact with oil, grease, or solvents. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols are essential in maintaining a safe and productive workspace in this industrial setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to wear earplugs, safety shoes, and safety glasses/goggles.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use a calculator, and routine office equipment such as telephone, fax, copier, printer, etc. The employee is occasionally required to use vehicles/heavy equipment such as a forklift and overhead crane; production machinery; testing devices such as tensile and torsion tester; and measuring devices such as micrometer, tape measure, and weighing scales; and a computer.
