Steel Dynamics’ Jeffersonville Plant is seeking a Plant Floater to perform a range of duties in shipping/receiving, housekeeping, and packaging. You will operate overhead cranes and fork trucks, load/unload coils, and handle zinc storage, contributing to smooth daily operations.

The role emphasizes a strong safety mindset, teamwork, adaptability, and willingness to train on additional plant tasks while supporting drivers and internal customers.

Overview

The Plant Floater is responsible for a wide variety of job duties within the Jeffersonville Plant including shipping/receiving, housekeeping, packaging, etc.

Responsibilities

• Provide and maintain a safe work environment for all employees and drivers.
• Safely and efficiently operate overhead cranes
• Safely and efficiently operate fork trucks
• Loading/unloading coils
• Unloading zinc and safely placing zinc into storage
• Support the galv line packager when running frequent splits and helping to keep supplies available
• The successful candidate will be able to quickly learn a variety of job tasks and multi-task during the day while providing assistance to other employees and at the same time completing their own job assignments.
