Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc. is seeking a Plant Facilities Engineer to oversee planning, management, and maintenance of all physical infrastructure and utility systems within a manufacturing plant.

You will ensure safe, efficient operations and regulatory compliance across buildings and utilities. The role involves leading maintenance, capital projects, and preventive programs, while coordinating with external contractors and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Facilities Engineering (or related field).
• 3-7 years of experience in facilities engineering or plant engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing), AutoCAD or similar design tools, CMMS platforms, and project management tools.
• Certifications (preferred): CFM, PE license, or LEED accreditation.
• Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the maintenance and operation of plant buildings, structures, HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and other infrastructure.
• Manage plant utility systems including compressed air, steam, water treatment, natural gas, and electrical distribution.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute facility improvement and expansion projects from concept through commissioning.
• Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs for all facility-related equipment and systems.
• Source, manage, and oversee external contractors and vendors for facility-related services and projects.
• Ensure all facility operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations including building codes, fire safety, and environmental standards.
• Partner with the EHS team to maintain a safe working environment and support audits and inspections.
• Develop and manage the facilities maintenance and capital budget; identify cost-saving opportunities.
