Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or related field.
• One year of experience working in a biology research laboratory.
• Experience with molecular biology, including DNA and RNA isolation, genome library preparation, gene expression.
• Experience working with plants in a greenhouse setting.
• Training in botany, plant ecology, evolution, or genetics.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Streisfeld lab functions and assist with day‑to‑day lab operations.
• Design and conduct experiments with live plants in the UO greenhouse and in the lab.
• Perform molecular genetic work, including DNA/RNA isolation and sequencing preparations.
• Interpret data and present findings; troubleshoot experiments as needed.
• Train other researchers and maintain laboratory equipment and reagents.
• Make independent decisions about experimental setup for DNA isolation, sequencing, and gene expression studies.
• Collaborate with undergraduates, graduates, and postdocs; coordinate with Dr. Streisfeld on project direction.
