Job summary

Oregon State University’s Department of Botany & Plant Pathology is seeking a full-time Faculty Research Assistant for a 12-month, fixed-term appointment. This on-site lab role supports molecular diagnostics and plant health research, with a starting salary commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include conducting molecular tests (PCR, qPCR, ELISA, DNA sequencing), collecting and analyzing data for surveys, and maintaining lab operations.

Qualifications

• BS in biology or closely related field is required.
• At least 1 year of experience performing molecular pathogen testing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform molecular testing on plant diagnostic samples for pathogens and pests using PCR, qPCR, ELISA, and DNA sequencing.
• Conduct research to adopt and optimize new molecular tests to increase accuracy and efficiency.
• Collect and analyze testing data for survey projects.
• General lab maintenance (washing labware, autoclaving supplies, and organizing records)
