Job summary

3M in Cottage Grove, MN is seeking a Plant Engineering Project Coordinator to lead site-specific projects and support continuous improvement efforts across teams.

You will work with frontline staff and leaders, applying Kaizen-style methods and data analysis to drive operational and financial gains.

A bachelor’s degree with 3 years of related experience or a high school diploma with 5 years is required, plus a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution with a minimum of three (3) years of combined experience in Training Development, Training Management, Project Coordination, and/or Project Management in a private, public, government or military environment.
• High School diploma/GED or higher from an accredited institution with a minimum of five (5) years of combined experience in Training Development, Training Management, Project Coordination, and/or Project Management in a private, public, government or military environment.
• Current, valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Independently administers and coordinates site-specific engineering projects and/or programs. Leads or guides employees during a project or trains new employees within their assigned site/organization on business performance activities.
• Works directly with front line employees, leaders, and support functions on improvement projects, running/leading Kaizen events, development/refinement of Tier Boards, tier meetings for employee engagement and continuous improvement.
• Handles non-routine and difficult inquiries; applies a wide range of improvement techniques to develop and implement solutions for complex issues and objectives.
• Has a direct impact on the team/work group, providing direction, advice, or focus, as needed. Decisions may impact multiple work groups.
• Position does not have people management responsibility; works under minimal supervision.

• Independently, administers and coordinates site-specific engineering projects and/or programs. Leads or guides employees during a project or trains new employees within their assigned site/organization on business performance activities. Begins to determine priorities, assign responsibilities, or implement timetables for work group or teams to ensure success.
• Works directly with front line employees, leaders, and support functions. Including, but not limited to, improvement projects, running/leading Kaizen events, development/refinement of Tier Boards, tier meetings for the purpose of employee engagement and continuous improvement
• Handles non-routine and difficult inquiries. Adapts a wide range of improvement techniques, approaches, and methods to develop and implement solutions for a variety of complex issues and operational and financial improvement objectives. Applies analytical skills for analysis and interpretation of trends or data for the purpose of improving targeted operational and/or financial objectives.
• Has a direct impact on the team/work group, providing direction, advice, or focus, as needed. Decisions may impact the operational effectiveness of multiple work groups or teams in the department, next higher organizational tier, and/or related activities within the direct functional area.
• Position does not have people management responsibility. Works under minimal supervision.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution and a minimum of three (3) years of combined experience in Training Development, Training Management, Project Coordination, and/or Project Management in a private, public, government or military environment

OR

• High School diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution and a minimum of five (5) years of combined in Training Development, Training Management, Project Coordination, and/or Project Management in a private, public, government or military environment

AND

• Current, valid driver’s license

Work location:

• On Site – Cottage Grove, MN

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
