Arglass Furnace is a startup innovating in the glass manufacturing industry. We aim to be the preferred supplier for the spirits and beverage sectors. As the first new glass plant in America in over a decade, Arglass is committed to serving customers with needs for flexibility, efficiency, and customization, which are not adequately met by traditional U.S. or foreign manufacturers. The plant is designed with proven technology to ensure high-quality, flexible, and efficient production.
Position: Plant Engineer
Status of hire: Full-time
Industry: Glass container manufacturing
Reports to: Individual Contributor
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose automation problems and perform root cause analysis.
- Interface with teams, users, and suppliers.
- Oversee installation, operation, and maintenance of plant machinery.
- Conduct inspections to identify and resolve issues.
- Ensure safety compliance and industry standards.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to improve operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Manage plant projects, including upgrades and new installations.
- Analyze operational data for improvements.
- Coordinate with external contractors for repairs or maintenance.
- Supervise and train maintenance staff.
- Manage maintenance budget and keep records.
- Provide support during outages or operational issues.
- Support organizational goals related to infrastructure reliability and availability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering or similar, or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in control systems, troubleshooting, and high-demand environments.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, demanding setting.
- Excellent communication skills for interaction with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of technical management, information analysis, and computer systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
- Highly organized with good time management.
- Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to continuous learning.
- At least two years of experience as a controls engineer in an industrial manufacturing environment, with expertise in automation controls systems (PLC, SCADA), control panel design, instrumentation, and controls.
- Experience with engineering documentation, field instrumentation, system installation, and safety applications.
- Proficiency in technical communication, report writing, and presentations.
- Experience in data center automation is a plus.
- Self-motivated with a desire to learn and innovate.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to traverse steps without assistance.
- Capability to perform climbing, bending, reaching, standing, stooping, and typing.
- Ability to sit and operate office equipment for up to 8 hours daily.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, with a rotating weekend shift every 5 weeks.
