LOCATION: COE

SUMMARY: Provides engineering duties as assigned by Plant Manager and/or Operations Director. Responsible for overseeing new equipment installations as well as modifications to existing equipment to enhance productivity within the plant. Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues affecting manufacturing productivity. Involved in process improvements and providing input in production problem-solving. Manage the maintenance department, providing guidance, instruction, and oversight.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure good engineering practices are applied in the design of all new and existing equipment and building systems.
• Participate actively in troubleshooting production problems.
• Be versed in PLC programming.
• Manage new equipment installations and startups.
• Design, install, and startup equipment modifications.
• Negotiate prices and purchase equipment and services as needed.
• Draft Capital Expenditure Requisitions, gather information for justification, and obtain costs.
• Complete preliminary and formal capital expenditure requisitions.
• Manage the maintenance department and coordinate with outside contractors.
• Ensure adequate utilities for smooth operation of manufacturing equipment and systems.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
• Participate in plant manufacturing improvement efforts, such as QCO, press speed, and utilization.
• Be a member of APC’s Center of Excellence (COE) Leadership Team, designated as our Food Safety Team.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; and four to ten years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, journals, technical procedures, and regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Effective presentation skills to groups of managers, clients, and the public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Capable of applying mathematical operations to tasks like frequency distribution, reliability analysis, ANOVA, correlation, sampling, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle multiple variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Regularly use hands, talk, hear; frequently sit and reach; occasionally stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl. Must lift/move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
