The County of Hawai`i is seeking a skilled electrician for a full-time position within the Department of Environmental Management - Wastewater Division in Hilo. The chosen candidate will perform a variety of tasks involving the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and electronic equipment, ensuring the functionality of critical systems. This position offers the opportunity to work in diverse conditions and requires a valid electrician's license and relevant experience.
Installs, maintains, overhauls, and repairs plant electrical and electronic control devices and equipment; and performs other related duties as required.
There is one (1) immediate permanent full-time vacancy with the Department of Environmental Management - Wastewater Division in Hilo.
The eligible list may be used for other permanent and temporary vacancies as they arise during the life of the list. Temporary appointment may lead to conversion to permanent appointment.
Special Working Conditions: Exposure to hazardous, filthy and/or obnoxious conditions; may also be subject to shift, weekend and holiday work as required.
Training and Experience:

Examination: All applicants who meet the minimum qualification requirements will be assigned a score of 70 points. An education and experience evaluation will be conducted based on the applicant's training, education and experience as presented in the application.

Knowledge of: the theories of electricity and electronics; practices, tools, equipment, instruments, and materials used in electrical and electronic repair; installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical and electronic control devices and equipment; hazards and safety practices of the trade.
Ability to: read and interpret blueprints, plans, and diagrams of electrical/electronic circuits; install, maintain, and repair electrical and electronic control devices and equipment; use electrical and electronic testing equipment and devices; work safely; follow oral and/or written instructions; handle weights and loads.
