Job summary
CROWN Cork & Seal USA, Inc. is seeking a Plant Electrical Engineer in Massillon, Ohio to supervise plant electricians and manage electrical projects from conception through installation.
You will support daily production and drive improvements across the manufacturing process. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience is required.
- Five to seven years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- At least three years of proven supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of motor controls, VFDs, DC drives, and related systems.
- Proficiency with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley) and AutoCAD.
- Experience with process control systems and instrumentation.
- Ability to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Applies electrical theory to test and modify developmental or operational electrical machinery in a manufacturing setting.
- Oversees assembly and testing of motor control devices and related equipment.
- Diagnoses causes of malfunctions and performs preventative and corrective actions.
- Develops diagrams and specifications for modifications and directs installation tasks.
- Plans, directs, and records periodic testing; recommends equipment updates.
- Directs, coordinates, trains, coaches, and assesses employees.
- Supports safe, efficient, and effective work practices.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.

PLANT ELECTRICAL ENGINEER
The Plant Electrical Engineer works closely with all aspects of the manufacturing process from the raw material to the finished product and supports daily production activities. This is a managerial position, which would include the daily supervision of plant electricians as well as the management of plant construction, modifications, appropriations, and equipment installation.
- Applies electrical theory and related knowledge to test and modify developmental or operational electrical machinery, electrical control equipment and circuitry in a manufacturing plant setting
- Oversees assembly and testing of experimental motor control devices, switch panels, transformers, generator windings, and other electrical equipment and components according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles
- Diagnoses cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective action
- Develops diagrams, drawings and specifications for modifications or expansions and directs personnel performing routine installation and maintenance duties
- Plans, directs, and records periodic testing; recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment as needed
- Directs, coordinates, develops, trains, coaches, and assesses employees
- Supports and encourages employees to work safely, efficiently, and effectively
- Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience plus an Associate’s degree
- Five to seven years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- At least three years of proven supervisory experience
- Working knowledge of motor controls, VFD’s, DC drives, Eddy Current Systems and/or Modicon system design
- Installation, set-up, and programming of PLC’s (Allen-Bradley)
- Ability to design, modify and plot using AutoCAD software
- Process control systems – set-up and program applications
- Instrumentation and calibration knowledge
- Facility power distribution to include voltage up to 4160v, three-phase
- Knowledge of building facilities (compressed air, water, hydraulics, vacuums, heating and cooling)
- Knowledge of control systems and sub-systems
- Must be available to work various shifts if needed and be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime to cover absences or provide additional support
- Packaging industry experience preferred
- Electrical Journeyman’s certification preferred
- Green or black belt certification in Six Sigma preferred
- While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The team member may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Generally, works in a typical office setting but will be required to perform some job duties in a plant environment
- While performing the duties of this job in the plant, the team member may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic
- The team member may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures in the plant
- The noise level in the plant is frequently loud
- The Massillon plant and grounds are tobacco-free.
