Job summary

Responsibilities

• Empties and cleans waste receptacles, removes trash, and relines baskets.
• Cleans and sanitizes restroom fixtures including sinks, urinals, toilets, and mirrors.
• Wipes and disinfects door handles, railings, and other high-traffic surfaces.
• Sweeps, vacuums, and mops floors/carpets; spot cleans walls and doors.
• Replenishes supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, soap, and sanitizer.
• Drives floor scrubber/sweeper to maintain clean floors throughout the Plant.
• Mops areas not reachable by the machine; cleans break room and training areas.
• Monitors cleaning supplies and requests more as needed.
• Dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures; washes windows and blinds when needed.
• Observes and reports needed repairs or replacements to maintenance.

Plant Custodian Job Description

Job Summary

This position is responsible for keeping the building in clean and orderly condition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Empties and cleans waste receptacles as needed, removes trash, and relines baskets.


• Cleans and sanitizes restroom fixtures including sinks, feminine hygiene containers, urinals, toilets, and mirrors.


• Wipes and disinfects door handles, railings, and other highly trafficked surfaces.


• Sweeps, vacuums, and mops floors/carpets


• Spot cleans walls, cabinets, doors, and door frames.


• Replenishes supplies in areas as needed such as paper towels, toilet paper, soap, hand sanitizer, etc.


• Drives floor scrubber/sweeper to maintain clean floors throughout the Plant.


• Mop Plant floors where floor scrubber/sweeper cannot reach including baseboards, close to walls, and all areas non-reachable by the machine.


• Cleans countertops, tables, sinks, refrigerators, and microwaves in break room, conference room and training room areas.


• Monitors cleaning supplies and requests more as needed.


• Dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures


• Washes windows and blinds when needed.


• Observes and reports needed repairs or replacements to maintenance.


• Keeps custodial closet clean and orderly.


• Ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.


• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational skills: the ability to prioritize, maintain attention to detail and recognize time constraints.


• One year of experience in housekeeping or related position preferred.


• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.


• Computer skills preferred including experience with Outlook and Word.

Physical Demands

• Standing and walking required 100% of work time.


• Ability to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds occasionally (1-33% of the day).


• The position is primarily based in the manufacturing/machining environment.


• The environment is often cooler or hotter than traditional offices.


• The noise level is often high due to the use of various equipment.


• Dust, grease, and metal shavings are common.


• Continuous use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), steel toe shoes with metatarsals, and hearing protection is required when on the shop floor. Bump caps, face shields, gloves and Arc Flash Equipment may be required for more specific tasks.
