Job summary

PPG is seeking a Plant Electrical and Controls Engineer to design, install, maintain and continually improve plant control systems. You will diagnose electrical issues affecting operations, and support instrumentation integration in a manufacturing environment.

The role requires a bachelor’s or equivalent with 3–5 years in electrical/controls engineering, proficiency in PLC programming, DCS platforms and AutoCAD Electrical, and compliance with NEC/NFPA 70E.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering or related field with 3-5 years of experience in electrical/controls engineering within a manufacturing/industrial environment.
• High School Diploma with 5-7 years of experience in electrical/controls engineering within a manufacturing/industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, diagnose, and resolve issues related to plant PLC, DCS, and HMI based automation systems.
• Support integration of instrumentation systems including sensors, transmitters, flow meters, and analyzers.
• Maintain and update electrical and controls documentation including P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control narratives.
• Identify and implement automation and controls improvements to enhance process efficiency, product quality, and safety.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues impacting plant operations and coordinate with maintenance technicians to minimize production downtime.
• Perform electrical load analysis, short circuit studies, and arc flash assessments to ensure system safety and compliance.
• Manage electrical preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and other applicable electrical standards.
• Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance technicians and operators on electrical and controls systems.
• Support 24/7 operations by providing on-call technical assistance for critical electrical and controls issues.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Controls Engineering (or related field)

High School Diploma with 5-7 years in electrical/controls engineering
