Teledyne FLIR Defense in Bozeman, MT, is seeking a hands-on Plant Controller to manage manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, financial reporting, and business partnering for Bozeman and Freeport sites. The role requires strong cost accounting experience, collaboration with operations, and delivering insights to site leadership.

Reporting to the Finance VP for the Surveillance Division, you’ll drive standard costing, budgets, and forecasts to optimize profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 8–10+ years of accounting/finance experience, manufacturing cost accounting preferred.
• Experience with standard costing, inventory accounting (physical inventory and E&O), and variance analysis.
• Experience partnering with operations or site leadership to drive decisions.
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly, quarter-end, and year-end close activities including cost center reviews and journal entries.
• Analyze overhead, inventory, and other financial data to support operational decisions.
• Lead budget preparation and forecasting for assigned sites (revenue, margin, cost centers).
• Prepare standard costing labor and overhead rates and maintain/update standard costs.
• Prepare analytical reports and deliver financial insights to Site Leads.
• Assign G/L coding and review/approve purchase orders.
• Prepare weekly forecast updates and monitor inventory including E&O reserves.
• Assist with fixed asset audits and documentation.
• Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Materials, and Operations to resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare responses for corporate/government surveys and coordinate with other sites.
