Job summary

PPG Industries in Oak Creek, WI is hiring a Plant Controller to partner with plant leadership, manage the budgeting process, and drive cost optimization. The role is onsite at the Oak Creek manufacturing plant.

The ideal candidate has manufacturing cost accounting experience, strong analytical skills, and a track record of cross‑functional leadership to deliver measurable savings and efficiency gains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in cost accounting or financial support within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven track record of influencing financial results and leading cross‑functional teams is essential.
• ERP experience required – Oracle preferred.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with plant leadership to develop and implement performance improvement plans that enhance productivity and optimize costs.
• Leadership in Financial Planning: Lead and coordinate the plant-wide budget process across departments to set targets.
• Insightful Analytics: Use analytics to identify areas for financial improvement and drive cost control and efficiency.
• Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work with Operations, Supply Chain, and Demand Planning to align financial strategies.
• Capital Investment Strategy: Develop and execute a roadmap for capital spending, prioritizing projects within budget.
• Post‑Investment Analysis: Conduct evaluations of significant investments to ensure objectives are met.
• Inventory Optimization: Lead optimization of inventory health across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.

Job description

As a Plant Controller , you will play an important role in the Operations Finance team. You will go beyond numbers—it’s about becoming a strategic partner and a leader within the plant’s leadership team. You will shape and influence key financial decisions that drive operational excellence and long-term success. You will report to the Operations Finance Manager and work onsite at our Oak Creek, WI manufacturing plant.

Main Responsibilities:

• Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with plant leadership to develop and implement performance improvement plans that enhance productivity and optimize costs. Your insights will guide critical decisions and foster a culture of financial discipline and operational excellence.
• Leadership in Financial Planning: Lead and coordinate the plant-wide budget process, working across all departments to set achievable productivity and cost‑saving targets. Your leadership will ensure that financial goals are not only met but exceeded.
• Insightful Analytics: Utilize detailed and forward‑thinking analytics to identify key areas for financial improvement. Provide actionable insights that drive decision‑making and lead to tangible results in cost control and operational efficiency.
• Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work with various departments, including Operations, Supply Chain, and Demand Planning, to align financial strategies with broader business objectives. Ensure seamless communication and alignment across the plant and with business unit finance.
• Capital Investment Strategy: Partner with the plant leadership team to develop and execute a strategic roadmap for capital spending. Lead efforts to prioritize critical projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with the plant’s strategic goals.
• Post‑Investment Analysis: Conduct thorough post‑completion evaluations of significant investments to ensure financial and operational objectives are met, and lessons learned are integrated into future projects.
• Inventory Optimization: Take a leadership role in optimizing inventory health across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods. Collaborate with the MRO store room team to ensure inventory accuracy and appropriateness, driving continuous improvement in excess and obsolete inventory management.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
• 6+ years of experience in cost accounting or financial support within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven track record of influencing financial results and leading cross‑functional teams is essential.
• ERP experience required – Oracle preferred
