Job summary

Synerfac Technical Staffing is seeking a Plant Controller for a Somerset County, NJ manufacturing operation. You will own plant financial performance, lead cost controls, and drive a major ERP and operational improvement initiative.

Responsibilities include cost control, variances, inventory management, and partnering across functions to deliver accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and capital analysis. Onsite, with up to 25% travel to Colorado headquarters.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in progressive finance or controlling, preferably as plant/controller.
• Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong cost accounting, job costing, and inventory control expertise.

• Support transition from Sage to Epicor and improve costing and controls.

Plant Controller:

Join a growing Somerset County, NJ manufacturing operation specializing in precision fabricated components. This is an opportunity to take ownership of plant financial performance, strengthen manufacturing cost controls, and help drive a major ERP and operational improvement initiative.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing cost control, job costing, and profitability analysis, identifying variances in labor, materials, productivity, scrap, and overhead.
• Strengthen inventory management, valuation, reconciliation, and physical inventory processes while developing Excel-based cost-tracking tools.
• Support the transition from Sage to Epicor, improving manufacturing costing, financial controls, inventory accuracy, and ERP-based processes.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quoting, Supply Chain, and Finance on financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, capital investment analysis, and continuous improvement.

Compensation & Travel

• Salary: $120,000-$145,000 annually, plus benefits and bonus eligibility.
• Location: Somerset County, NJ. Fully onsite position.
• Travel: Up to 25%, including monthly trips of up to one week to U.S. headquarters in Colorado.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field, or an equivalent combination of education and progressive manufacturing finance experience.
• 7+ years of progressive finance or controlling experience, including experience as a Plant Controller, Cost Controller, Cost Accounting Manager, or similar role.
• Strong manufacturing cost accounting, job costing, inventory control, physical inventory, and manufacturing variance analysis experience.
• Advanced Excel skills, experience supporting ERP implementations or transformations, and the ability to establish financial controls in a developing manufacturing environment.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Experience in metal fabrication, metalworking, industrial manufacturing, or other labor-intensive manufacturing environments.
• Epicor experience; a CPA, master's degree, public accounting background, or Sage experience is also beneficial.
