Job summary

Silgan Containers’ Maxton, NC facility seeks a Plant Controller to manage plant and cost accounting across multiple cost centers and lead the monthly close, reporting, forecasting, and budgeting processes. You will maintain standard costs, BOMs, and drive inventory controls while ensuring GAAP compliance and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• ERP system experience and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Run plant accounting and cost accounting processes across multiple cost centers.
• Manage the monthly close process with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and operating plans.
• Maintain standard costs and BOMs.
• Oversee physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls.
• Review variances in labor, materials, overhead, and inventory.
• Support production meetings and asset protection.

What You Will Do

• Run plant accounting and cost accounting processes across multiple cost centers.
• Manage the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial accuracy.
• Prepare monthly financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and operating plans.
• Maintain standard costs and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Oversee physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliation.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies.
• Review labor, materials, overhead, distribution, and inventory variances.
• Participate in production and operations meetings.
• Support internal controls, audit readiness, and asset protection.
• Partner with operations to improve manufacturing performance.
• Supervise front office administrative and accounting activities.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Five or more years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• ERP system experience.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
