Job summary

Addison Group SoCal is seeking a hands‑on Plant Controller for a high‑growth global manufacturing business in Los Angeles. You will partner with Operations and Finance to drive cost accounting enhancements, standard costing, and capital expenditure analysis while mentoring a cost accounting team.

Reporting to the CFO, you will translate plant data into actionable business insight, strengthen inventories and fixed assets reporting, and support budgeting, forecasting, and month‑end close processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline.
• 8+ years of accounting or financial analysis experience in manufacturing.
• Advanced Excel, data mining, and ERP/reporting systems experience.

Plant Controller for a Shining Star B2B Manufacturer

Addison Group SoCal is conducting a search for a Plant Controller to join a highly profitable, B2B manufacturer to support the significant uptick in product demand. The Opportunity

The Plant Controller will serve as a proactive business partner to Operations and Finance while leading a significant enhancement of cost accounting, fixed‑asset reporting, and manufacturing analysis. The role will work closely with Manufacturing, Product Development, Sales, Logistics, Planning, and corporate Finance to improve visibility into product costs, labor, materials, margins, inventory, and capital investment.

This leader will a small team who will benefit from an engaged manager, mentor, and technical resource. The opportunity is well suited to someone who enjoys developing people, modernizing processes, and translating detailed plant data into actionable business insight.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the cost accounting function for a growing, global manufacturing business.
• Create, roll, and maintain material, labor, and overhead standards, including absorption calculations and detailed variance analysis.
• Strengthen product‑cost, contribution‑margin, labor, material, and manufacturing‑performance reporting, including the evolution of reporting under IFRS.
• Provide meaningful insight to control manufacturing, material, and labor costs, and conduct performance reviews with site leadership.
• Determine pricing for custom products and partner with leadership to maintain standard‑product pricing that supports agreed profit targets.
• Prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations and analysis of direct‑cost, inventory, fixed‑asset, and other manufacturing‑related accounts.
• Oversee cycle‑count and physical‑inventory processes, including inventory held at supplier locations, and ensure related controls operate effectively.
• Track, manage, and report on capex projects and fixed assets.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, month‑end close, monthly results commentary, financial analysis, and ad‑hoc reporting.
• Review E&O inventory and partner with Operations on process improvements.
• Serve as the primary contact for external‑audit inquiries involving manufacturing costs, inventory, fixed assets.
• Lead special projects for the CFO and global corporate Finance team while supporting departments and Finance colleagues across the organization.
• Mentor a cost accounting team, establishing clear expectations, strong processes, and disciplined execution.

The Ideal Leader

The successful candidate will be a hands‑on manufacturing finance professional who can move comfortably between on‑the‑floor, plant‑level detail and broader business partnership. This individual will bring the technical strength to overhaul processes and reporting, the systems aptitude to work across legacy and modern platforms, and the leadership presence to develop a team and influence cross‑functional partners.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of accounting or financial analysis experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Deep knowledge of standard costing, product costing, manufacturing variances, inventory controls, cycle counts, and fixed assets.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, planning, financial reporting, capex analysis, and operational decision support.
• Advanced Excel expertise, strong data‑mining skills, and confidence working with ERP and reporting systems.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, or developing accounting professionals.
• Executive level communication, organization, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills, with the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP; exposure to IFRS and full P&L responsibility is preferred.
• Experience with legacy and cloud‑based ERP systems and heavy‑duty Excel.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation package includes a salary of $150,000-$165,000 and a comprehensive benefits program, including PPO/HMO plans and matching 401K
