Job description

Plant Controller Location: Geneva, IL About the Role We are seeking a hands on Plant Controller to serve as the financial backbone of our manufacturing operations. Reporting into plant leadership, this person will own the numbers behind day to day production, translate operating activity into financial insight, and partner closely with operations staff to find efficiencies. This role supports two manufacturing facilities and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast moving, performance driven environment. What You'll Do Track and explain the story behind plant performance by analyzing both financial and operational measures, including labor, equipment utilization, shift output, spending controls, and inventory levels. Partner with the Plant Manager and Supply Chain team to build and refresh the monthly production plan, then measure real results against that plan on a daily, weekly, and monthly cadence. Collaborate with operating teams to learn and strengthen core processes across raw material handling, inventory, quality, shipping, and customer service. Support the monthly financial close and rolling forecast for the plant, including ownership of assigned journal entries. Analyze plant profit and loss statements and walk through the results with the leadership team. Help build the annual plant budget alongside the Plant Manager and staff. Study, calculate, and keep current the actual labor cost by production line and by machine. Contribute to the plant level rollout of a new ERP system. Monitor capital spending and track progress on cost improvement initiatives. Work with Inventory Control to establish a cycle counting routine covering both raw materials and finished goods. Support corporate reporting needs and standard cost refreshes. Champion a results oriented culture in a dynamic setting, and take on additional projects as they arise. What Success Looks Like Organization and follow through: You can structure your own workload, interpret and share numerical data clearly, manage your time well, adhere to established procedures, solve problems as they surface, and keep orderly records. Communication: You bring strong interpersonal skills and polished written and verbal communication, including solid business writing and grammar. You juggle competing priorities with ease, sweat the details, work well on a team, and consistently hit deadlines. What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a comparable field. At least five years of relevant experience. Cost accounting background with real, hands on manufacturing exposure is required. Comfort spending time on the plant floor to understand operations and spot savings opportunities. Background in food service, consumer products, or automotive is a plus. Willingness to travel overnight periodically throughout the year.
