Job summary

SCN - Search Consulting Network is partnering with an Automotive Manufacturer based in the Auburn Hills area to recruit a Plant Controller who is bilingual in Spanish and English. The role will report to the CFO and require strong GAAP knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and 3+ years in manufacturing finance.

The candidate will manage monthly closes, budgeting, cost analysis, and interaction with plant leadership to improve productivity and cost performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years accounting/finance experience, including 3+ years in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with standard costing, inventory valuation, and financial planning.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and manufacturing accounting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and plant performance reports.
• Lead accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes.
• Analyze manufacturing variances: labor, material, scrap, inventory, overhead absorption.
• Lead the plant's annual budget and strategic planning; build monthly forecasts.
• Maintain and improve standard costing systems; cost raw materials, WIP, finished goods accurately.
• Review cost estimates for new programs and engineering changes; support customer quoting with cost analysis.
• Lead physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and audits; ensure internal controls.

Position Highlights

• Title: Plant Controller (Bilingual Spanish/English)
• Reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer
• Bilingual in Spanish and English (required), with strong professional speaking and writing skills
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including 3+ years in a manufacturing environment
• Experience with standard costing, inventory valuation, and financial planning
• A track record of supporting plant operations and leadership teams
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and manufacturing accounting
• Advanced Excel skills
• Nice to have: automotive industry experience; program launch, customer quoting, or engineering-change costing experience; SOX experience

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and plant performance reports
• Lead accurate, on-time month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes
• Analyze manufacturing variances, including labor, material, scrap, inventory, and overhead absorption
• Lead the plant's annual budget and strategic planning, build monthly forecasts, and track performance against budget
• Maintain and improve standard costing systems, and make sure raw materials, WIP, and finished goods are costed and valued accurately
• Review cost estimates for new programs and engineering changes, and support customer quoting with cost analysis and financial modeling
• Lead physical inventory counts and cycle count programs, maintain internal controls, and coordinate internal and external audits
• Work with operations leadership to improve productivity, quality, and cost performance, and develop and track plant KPIs
• Support customer program launches and take part in daily, weekly, and monthly plant management meetings
• Review capital requests and business cases, and track capital project spending and expected returns
