Job summary

Helion is hiring for a leadership role overseeing the Plant Control Software team responsible for the embedded, supervisory, networking, and data layers of the fusion plant control software stack.

The role requires extensive experience in real-time embedded software, building multidisciplinary teams, and delivering software tied to hardware schedules. You will work with electrical and mechanical engineers, systems engineers, operators and scientists to advance Helion’s mission.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience building complex control systems for hardware.
• 3+ years of experience in a leadership role building and managing a multidisciplinary software team.
• Depth in real-time, embedded, or control software for physical systems.
• A track record of delivering software against hardware on a shared schedule in an environment where the hardware is the product.
• Experience hiring, and growing engineers over time.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Plant Control Software team, across firmware, application software, networking, infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
• Own delivery of the plant control software stack across embedded, supervisory, networking, and data layers.
• Partner with electrical, mechanical, fuel cycle, systems engineering, operations, and science; coordinate across hardware and software schedules.
• Establish engineering principles and processes for planning, reviews, tests, deployments, fault response, and handoffs to operations.
