Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking a Plant Accountant to manage general accounting, payroll, and reporting for the plant. You will ensure accurate ledgers, prepare financial statements, and analyze variances to drive improvements.

You will lead month-end closes, forecast costs, and support internal controls and compliance. A Bachelor's in accounting/finance and 3 years' related experience are preferred; this is a full-time, on-site role in Cincinnati.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required or preferred.
• 3 years of accounting or finance experience in a business office with general ledger exposure.
• Strong Excel and Office skills; experience with financial systems for payroll and accounts payable.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes with estimates and accruals.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare financial reports such as balance sheets and P&L.
• Analyze forecasts vs. actual costs and report variances to leadership.
• Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with policies and state/federal laws.
• Support internal controls, SOX 404, and training of accounting staff.
