Job summary

CBS? CFS is seeking a Plant Accountant in Bakersfield, CA to manage cost accounting, inventory valuation, and month-end close processes. The role offers exposure to operations and finance leadership in a stable, growing organization.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing or similar settings, with strong GAAP knowledge and ERP proficiency (JD Edwards). Excellent analytical and collaboration skills are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience with exposure to cost accounting.
  • Experience in manufacturing, food production, agriculture, or similar operational environments preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory, job costing, and financial analysis.
  • ERP system experience required; JD Edwards experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of GAAP and month-end close processes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain product costing, standard costs, and activity-based cost models.
  • Analyze labor, production, and operational costs to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Perform inventory reconciliations and support inventory valuation processes.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries, accruals, allocations, and account analyses.
  • Conduct variance analysis and communicate findings to management.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities.
