Job summary

Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services is seeking a qualified reviewer to assess construction plans for compliance with local, state, and federal codes and to issue related permits. The role includes handling plan review via the county system, meeting coordination, and assisting the public with development inquiries.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED with vocational training and at least five years in construction or code enforcement. A valid Driver's License is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with vocational/technical training in construction trades/building technology
• Five years of progressively responsible experience in construction or code enforcement

Responsibilities

• Review routine building site and construction plans to ensure code compliance
• Provide information and technical assistance on code requirements to owners and contractors
• Enforce provisions of local, state, and federal development codes and resolve deviations
• Maintain records of plans review activities, permits, and related documents
• Coordinate plan review using the county's electronic system and ensure timely approvals
• Lead plan review meetings and coordinate files and paperwork for meetings
• Review plats for subdivisions for compliance with laws and standards
• Assist customers with questions about development processes, wetlands, floodplain and permits
• Perform other duties as assigned
