Job summary
The Department of Community Development is seeking a qualified Plans Examiner to review residential and commercial plans for code compliance in Flagstaff, Arizona. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors and the public to ensure safe, well-designed development and efficient permit reviews.

Qualifications
- Associate degree requirement and two years of plan review or related experience.
- Must obtain ICC Residential Plans Examiner within 1 year of hire.
- Must obtain ICC Commercial Plans Examiner within 1 year of hire.
Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate plans for code compliance.
- Conduct field inspections for complex projects as needed.
- Communicate with customers about construction and code requirements.
- Suggest plan modifications to conform to codes.
- Attend pre-construction meetings and assist with permits.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports.
- Interpret and advise on building code interpretations.
