Job summary

The City of Peoria, AZ is seeking a Plans Examiner II in its Development and Engineering Department. The role focuses on advanced plan reviews for complex buildings, including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, to ensure compliance with codes and city standards.

The candidate will coordinate with staff and project managers, advise on code changes, and manage documentation and inquiries. A valid AZ Driver's License and ICC certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of experience in the same or similar role.
• Two-year college program or equivalent combinations.
• Valid Arizona Class D Driver's License on hire.
• Two ICC certifications from Residential: Building, Electrical, Plumbing or Mechanical (preferred).
• ICC Building Plan Review NFPA 101 Plan Review or equivalent within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate plan review work with staff and other departments.
• Advise engineers, architects, contractors, officials, and the public on code changes and interpretations.
• Maintain records, track plan review discrepancies, and respond to inquiries in writing and orally.
• Assist with the development counter and explain City policies and codes.
