Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a building inspector, or one year of experience as a plans examiner, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• A valid driver’s license is required at the time of application and must be maintained for continued employment.
• Must possess ICC certifications: Building Plans Examiner (B3) or Residential Plans Examiner (R3) at time of application and kept during employment.
• Must obtain Residential Electrical Inspector (E1), Residential Mechanical Inspector (M1), Residential Plumbing Inspector (P1) within 12 months of appointment and maintain them.
• Ability to interpret construction documents and codes, communicate clearly, and provide customer service.

Responsibilities

• Review construction plans and specifications for completeness and compliance with building codes, state laws, and local ordinances.
• Inspect plans and field-related documents to ensure adherence to standards and safety.
• Coordinate with homeowners, contractors, design professionals, and colleagues to resolve issues.
• Demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills to manage multiple projects and timelines.
