Job summary
The City of Napa seeks a Plans Examiner to review industrial, commercial and residential construction plans for compliance with the California Building Code, city ordinances, and applicable laws. You will collaborate with Permit Technicians, Inspectors and other departments, determine submittal requirements, perform field inspections, resolve disputes, and respond to inquiries.
Special requirements include possession of an ICC Plans Examiner Certificate and Building Inspector Certification
Qualifications
- Knowledge of building/plans examination and current code developments.
- Ability to interpret building and zoning regulations and apply them.
- Experience with plan checking in a Building Division or local government is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Review construction plans for conformity with codes and ordinances.
- Determine submittal requirements and assist applicants in achieving compliance.
- Perform field inspections and respond to inquiries and disputes.
