The City of New Smyrna Beach is seeking a licensed Plans Examiner to review residential and commercial plans for code compliance. The role operates under the Chief Building Official and ensures plans meet all applicable codes.

Starting at $31.58–$36.56 per hour, depending on qualifications; standard workweek is Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, at 214 Sam's Ave, NSB FL. An HS diploma and relevant construction experience are required.

Qualificações

• Must have DBPR Standard Plans Examiner license or provisional license in one trade.
• Experience in construction across building, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical trades is preferred.
• Education/work experience combined to demonstrate knowledge of plans examination and code compliance.

About the Job!

The Plans Examiner works under the direction of the Chief Building Official in the examination of all residential and commercial plans for code and ordinance compliance.

What We're Looking For

• Highschool Diploma or equivalent; Experience in construction to include one of the following: building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical or experience in one or more of each of the following trades: electrical, building, mechanical, or plumbing construction work; or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Licenses or Certifications:

• Must hold at least one (1) DBPR Standard Plans Examiner trade license or a provisional license in one trade.

Please Note: The starting hourly rate is dependent on years of experience and DBPR trade licenses held.
