Job Description And Duties
Note: Effective July 1, 2025, a 3% salary reduction is in place under the Personal Leave Program (PLP), with 5 hours of Personal Leave Credit earned monthly in exchange. This program is subject to change based on union agreements and state budget policy.

Are you a building inspector, construction supervisor, plans examiner, or mobile home construction expert looking to grow your impact at the statewide level? HCD is seeking a skilled Plans Examiner (District Representative II) to review construction plans and ensure compliance with California’s Health and Safety Codes and Building Standards.

Candidates who reside more than 50 miles outside of the assigned geographical area may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency within 50-miles of the assigned geographic area prior to appointment (and continue to maintain residency) as a condition of employment.
