  • Coordinate closely with engineering, welding, fabrication, and assembly departments to balance shop capacity, labor availability, and material lead times.
  • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) inventories, identify potential bottlenecks or material shortages, and rapidly deploy contingency plans to hit delivery commitments.
  • Generate daily and weekly production reports detailing schedule adherence, throughput metrics, and efficiency variances.
  • Manage end-to-end procurement and purchasing lifecycles for raw structural steel, hydraulics, electrical components, fasteners, and specialized GSE sub-assemblies.
  • Source and vet qualified suppliers, negotiate volume pricing, payment terms, and delivery service-level agreements (SLAs) to optimize cost-effectiveness.
  • Issue purchase orders (POs), track shipments, reconcile vendor invoices against receiving logs, and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain optimal inventory threshold levels using MRP/ERP systems to prevent stockouts while mitigating carrying costs.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on OSHA compliance (specifically 29 CFR 1910 General Industry standards and 29 CFR 1926 where applicable) across all fabrication and assembly bays.
  • Conduct routine safety audits, hazard assessments, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for heavy lifting, overhead crane operation, welding, painting, and assembly processes.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership to enforce proper PPE adherence, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, hazard communication (HazCom), and ergonomic best practices.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, near-misses, or equipment malfunctions, documenting root causes and driving corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Coordinate safety training sessions and onboarding safety briefings for all new floor personnel and contractors

Requirements / Qualifications:

Education:Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field (equivalent professional experience in heavy manufacturing will be considered).

Regulatory Expertise:Extensive, demonstrable knowledge of OSHA standards (OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification or higher preferred). Ability to interpret and apply safety regulations to heavy fabrication and assembly lines.

Technical Acumen:Proficiency in reading engineering blueprints, hydraulic schematics, and bill of materials (BOMs). Strong command of ERP/MRP software (e.g., SAP, Epicor, Oracle, or similar).
