Job summary

The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is seeking a Planning Manager 1 to supervise professional, technical, and clerical staff in the Land Development division within the Planning Department. The role focuses on current planning, land use, and urban design for Nashville/Davidson County across urban, suburban, and rural contexts.

Responsibilities include assigning projects, reviewing staff work, coordinating Planning Commission meetings, and guiding pre-application reviews

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and six years of planning experience.
• Experience in local government planning is preferred.
• Eligible for Metro Supervisory Training Program per policy.

Responsibilities

• Assigns projects to review planners and monitors activity on projects in progress.
• Counsels and corrects employees as needed to maintain performance.
• Oversees the review of projects submitted to the division and edits staff reports.
• Reviews and edits council bills and files bills in Legistar.
• Coordinates Planning Commission meetings and prepares agendas.
