Job summary

Swift Transportation seeks a capacity planning leader to oversee a planners group, drive efficient capacity management, and coach team members across the planning center. You will coordinate capacity with cross-functional leaders, review customer bids, and implement improvements to service levels.

The role requires strong leadership, experience with planning tools, and the ability to optimize resources while aligning with SOPs and company goals.

Qualifications

• 4+ years' experience as planner in transportation industry.
• Previous leadership experience required.
• Must be able to lead, develop and coach others.
• Must be able to effectively transfer knowledge to others.
• Must be able to understand financial reports.
• Must be able to effectively utilize available technologies (Micromap, Tableau, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Oversee designated group of planners.
• Ensure assigned planners are developing plans that adhere to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Routinely review plans and provide appropriate feedback/coaching to planner.
• Oversee training of decision support tools.
• Train planners on how to review and analyze customer bids and ensure planners know current capacity so they can make appropriate adjustments.
• Proactively review current capacity and coordinate network needs/opportunities with other Planning Leaders/Planning Centers to identify capacity repositioning opportunities and determine optimal utilization of planners.
• Determine customer priority, then direct and execute planning accordingly.
• Monitor outbound freight and identify service issues.
• Manage exceptions and collaborate with internal department personnel to provide resolution and execute better service opportunities.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations in order to meet company demands and expectations and perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
• Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.

Pay Range:

$67,250.00 - $91,750.00 Annual
