Job summary

Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) is seeking electrical engineers to provide comprehensive analysis for large load integration within the Texas power system. Hybrid work arrangement with on-site presence in Taylor, TX 2–3 days per week, and some remote work from Texas.

You will run batch stability studies, PV, angular and voltage stability analyses, and support FAC-002 studies, while developing reports and recommendations for ERCOT and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 1–8 years of experience depending on level (Engineer2–Lead).
  • Experience in stability studies and transmission planning is preferred.
  • Python programming and simulation automation experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with NERC FAC-002 and TPL standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform batch stability screening studies for large load interconnection and transmission improvements using power system simulation tools (PSSE, VSAT, TSAT, PowerWorld).
  • Design and perform stability assessments including PV analysis, angular and voltage stability, and short‑circuit analysis under senior engineer direction.
  • Support NERC FAC‑002 studies for large load interconnections, run scenarios and sensitivity analyses, and assist in formulating conclusions and recommendations.
  • Review stakeholder reports and dynamic models to ensure appropriate technical content and accuracy; identify stability constraints and develop mitigation recommendations.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and study documentation for ERCOT management, market participants, NERC, and other stakeholders.
  • Support process improvements and automation efforts for planning and stability screening workflows; assist market participants in updating and validating power system dynamic models.
  • Manage multiple assignments and competing priorities; demonstrate commitment to reliability, compliance, technical accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • At senior level: act as a technical subject‑matter expert for batch zero stability screening, make independent decisions, lead complex interconnection and reliability studies, and mentor less experienced engineers.
  • At lead level: independently define problem statements, study scope, and analytical approaches for complex issues; serve as a recognized technical authority, engage with external stakeholders, and lead multidisciplinary teams.

Job Summary

Provides comprehensive electrical engineering analysis and technical support for large load batch stability assessment, NERC reliability studies, transmission planning, and interconnection reliability assessments pertaining to large load integration within the ERCOT power system. Utilizes robust system modeling techniques and study tools to evaluate system performance, conducts stability analyses, formulates solutions to address system reliability requirements, and presents findings and recommendations in a clear manner.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required.
  • Minimum work experience: 1year (Engineer2), 3years (Engineer3), 5years (EngineerSr.), 8years (Lead). Experience within the electric utility industry is preferred.
  • Preferred experience: performing stability studies, supporting transmission planning assessments, conducting large‑scale dynamic stability analyses, analyzing large load dynamic behavior, programming and developing simulation automation tools (Python preferred), assessing and mitigating oscillatory or voltage stability issues, and improving transmission planning and interconnection study processes.
  • Familiarity with NERC reliability standards, particularly FAC‑002 and TPL standards.
Work Location

Hybrid. Employees will be required to be on‑site in Taylor, TX at least 2–3 days per week. Remote work can be performed from your Texas residence. Employees may opt to work on‑site more than required or 100% of the time.

Compensation

Salary range: $109,000–$150,000.
