Job summary

Responsibilities

• Develop campus sector, topical, and space plans and refine the campus master plan with stakeholders.
• Develop conceptual programs and budgets for campus capital projects.
• Prepare pre-programming documents and information for decision-making and design initiatives.
• Conduct site and space planning and capacity studies, research.
• Summarize complex planning and environmental issues for non-planning audiences.
• Review project plans for conformance with campus standards and master plans.
• Participate in ongoing construction-related update meetings.
• Mentor Georgia Tech students in campus planning and design projects.
• Represent the Institute in community and governmental organizations as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Provide campus planning, sector planning, and capital planning leadership and facilitation for the Institute. Will have specific responsibility for Sector Plan development and/or Landscape Master Plan refinements and refreshments. Responsible for the integration of strategic planning in renewal and new projects, communicating with campus 'clients' on studies and projects, coordinating within the Office of Planning, Design & Construction (OPDC) and with Facilities Maintenance and Operations personnel to provide information on projects, technical report writing, project budgeting and contract negotiation. Responsibilities may include preparation of analyses and assisting in implementing strategic/master planning initiatives, and participation in environmental, safety, compliance & sustainability efforts.

This position will interact on a consistent basis with Institute leaders, faculty, staff & students at GT, and with outside consultants. Will periodically interact with Executive Leadership. Will typically provide advice/counsel to leadership/management in Administration & Finance/Infrastructure & Sustainability.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Develop campus sector, topical, and space plans. Promote and refine the campus master plan, in coordination with diverse stakeholders. Address space, transportation/multi-modal, environmental, landscape, infrastructure, urban design, compliance, sustainability and other strategic planning topics, initiatives, and challenges.

Job Duty 2 -

Develop conceptual programs and budgets for various campus capital projects.

Job Duty 3 -

Develop pre-programming documents and information for decision-making suggestions to internal clients. Develop conceptual programmatic requirements for proposed design and construction initiatives.

Job Duty 4 -

Conduct or participate in site and space planning and capacity studies, research.

Job Duty 5 -

Summarize complex planning and environmental issues into simple short communiques intended for non-planning audiences.

Job Duty 6 -

Review and analyze project technical plans & specification for integration and conformance with campus standards and campus guiding master plans: including transportation, housing, infrastructure, sector and other emerging plans, guidelines and best practices. Ensure integrated review of multiple projects impacting contiguous areas and simultaneous construction.

Job Duty 7 -

Participate on on-going construction-related update and status meetings.

Job Duty 8 -

Mentor and work with Georgia Tech students in campus planning and design projects.

Job Duty 9 -

Represent the Institute in community and governmental organizations as assigned.

Job Duty 10 -

Perform other duties as assigned.

Abilities

Demonstrated ability to give presentations. Ability to interact with fellow Project Managers in OPDC and Facilities Maintenance & Operations to provide subject matter expertise and cross project coordination for ongoing projects. Ability to gather and analyze data and communicate the impact of such data. Ability to work successfully in a collaborative team environment, excellent listening skills, effective verbal and written communications skills, ability to graphically represent programmatic spatial intent; ability to understand, communicate and interpret Georgia Tech's strategic goals and aspirations internally and to outside consultants in compliance with the overall campus master plan.

Knowledge

Working knowledge of land planning, urban planning and design, campus planning, place-making, transportation/mobility planning, civil engineering and environmental sciences with a broad base of interest and understanding the multi-faceted aspects of sustainability.

Skills

Proficiency in Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCad, Revit, SketchUp, or other applicable software packages.
