The Material Planner/Scheduler II’s primary role is the material planning of specific components within a commodity group. This includes setting a production schedule and procuring purchased and manufactured materials to meet the demand put on the factory from Logistics. This position will work independently and lead/facilitate continuous process improvements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze and provide visibility of external / internal items needed for FG production orders scheduled (Machines and Kits).
- Coordinate the availability of items needed with Commodity Planner.
- Communicate any risk of schedule compliance to Manufacturing management for machines/kits which could be component related, machine down scenarios, resources, etc.
- Coordinate the prioritization of assembly schedule with Commodity Planners to ensure the most efficient flow of production finished goods each week.
- Ensure spare part transfer picklists are complete.
- Schedule and transact weekly/daily outside warehouse material pulls.
- Resolve delivery outbound issues associated with machines and kits.
Commodity Planning:
- Procure raw materials to meet master production schedule.
- Work with Purchasing to negotiate inventory levels.
- Resolve day-to-day issues concerning scheduling, quality, and delivery problems.
- Maintain system parameters and utilize software tools to execute the planning process efficiently.
- Manage excess and obsolete inventory.
- Strive to increase flexibility within the manufacturing environment to meet distribution demand.
ECN Implementation:
- Work concurrently with other departments and core teams on new product development projects.
- Coordinate the release of Engineering Change Notices for successful implementation within the production environment.
Internal Manufacturing Planning:
- Prioritize internal manufactured parts needed for parent componentry and final assembly products.
- Manage daily/weekly exception messages related to internal manufactured parts due to schedule changes or inventory discrepancies.
- Communicate potential inventory discrepancies to inventory control personnel.
- Work with Supervisors to ensure on-time availability of internally manufactured components.
- Communicate any risks of schedule compliance to Managers/Supervisors.
- Resolve issues concerning scheduling and inventory discrepancies.
- Manage weekly orders, subcontract orders, phase in/out, scrapping, and deviations related to ECN or planning.
- Lead internal Kanban development, setup (including ERP/SAP), and daily scheduling.
Measurements:
- Provide detailed measurements to support company goals and objectives.
- Utilize measurements to track progress in achieving these goals.
Safety:
- Perform all job functions safely and maintain safety awareness.
- Report accidents, injuries, unsafe practices, and conditions to supervisors.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Production Operations or related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years planning experience.
- APICS, CPIM, or CIRM certification preferred.
- Excellent verbal, written, and public speaking skills.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Access, and ERP systems.
