Job summary

Ultipro in Texas is seeking a Production Planner to develop the production plan for the manufacturing organization and align demand from Sales planning. You will maintain inventory and coordinate with manufacturing, sales planning, and other functions to ensure smooth product flow to customers.

Responsibilities include analyzing data to guide SKU-level decisions, managing phase-ins/outs of new products, and updating forecasting tools weekly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Logistics, Manufacturing or equivalent experience.
  • APICS certification strongly preferred.
  • 3–6 years forecasting and production planning with quantitative analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and weekly production plans by model.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly SKU production plans.
  • Maintain inventory levels at the distribution warehouse within budget.
  • Review and incorporate monthly sales forecast by model.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, sales planning and other disciplines to optimize flow.
  • Manage phase-in and phase-out of new products and transitions.
  • Analyze large datasets to support SKU-level production decisions.
  • Communicate across all business functions, verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain production forecasting tool (MPSP) weekly for an 8-week view and update Anaplan monthly.
  • Perform required analysis and automate reporting with Tableau.
  • Create tools independently using SQL and Access.

Job description

The Production Planner is responsible for production plan development for the Manufacturing organization and customer demand alignment with the Sales planning organization. This includes accountability for availability, constraint support, product mix, and finished goods inventory. This role requires one with the ability to be results orientated, excellence driven and applies a sense of urgency to achieve business objectives. Applies good judgement, strong work ethics and integrity on the job.

Position Responsibilities may include:
  • Prepare monthly and weekly production plan by model for assigned product class.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly SKU production plans
  • Maintain inventory levels at the distribution warehouse based on established lead times while managing within approved budget.
  • Review and incorporate monthly sales forecast by model for assigned product class.
  • Maintain working relationship with manufacturing, sales planning and other disciplines to optimize efficiency and ensure smooth product flow to the customer.
  • Manage phase-in and phase-out of new product introductions and transitions.
  • Analyze large amounts of sales and inventory data to make proficient production decisions at the SKU level.
  • Communicate across all business disciplines both verbally and written.
  • Gather, compile and analyze data from various sources.
  • Assist in annual planning and preparation of tools.
  • Maintain production forecasting tool (MPSP) each week for a rolling 8 weeks to ensure vendor forecasts and financial CIP planning are up to date.
  • Perform monthly updates in Anaplan
  • Perform required analysis as directed
  • Perform automation of reporting in Tableau
  • Create tools independently using SQL and Access programming
  • Participate in additional projects to support ongoing business needs.

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Advanced Excel & Access skills -required and SQL, Tableau, or Anaplan experience is a plus
  • Strong analytical, quantitative & problem solving skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include listening and questioning skills
  • Effective organizational & time management skills with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to be a strong team player & build positive work relationships
Competency:
Experience:
  • 3-6 years forecasting & production planning including quantitative business analysis
Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor Degree (Statistics, Mathematics, Logistics, Manufacturing, etc.) or equivalent years’ experience in production planning in a high paced manufacturing environment
  • APICS certification strongly preferred
