Job Description

The primary function of this position is to plan, write and implement preventive and predictive maintenance tasks and procedures on key processing equipment, provide guidance, answer questions, provide information and instruction as requested, in a timely manner, observing all safety regulations and ensuring all quality standards are met and to maintain the efficient flow of product through the production process.

Role and Activity
  • Put on all required PPE and Safety Gear, perform a safety check on equipment and ensure safety devices are functioning properly.
  • Obtain work schedule and daily production risk predictions from scheduler, prioritize work and prepare for operations.
  • Communicate with prior and/or operator to discuss line issues, and ensure all E-Stops, machine and people guards, interlocks, and related devices are tested and operational according to Laurel Operations Center (LOC), Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) minimum requirements.
  • Answer telephones, e-mails, voice mail and address scheduling issues and concerns.
  • Monitor equipment and machinery operations to support preventive maintenance guidelines and respond to unanticipated breakdowns.
  • Plan, write and implement preventive and predictive maintenance tasks and procedures on key processing equipment.
  • Work with plant teams and maintenance personnel to identify and plan work in the area.
  • Plan and identify work including ordering parts and planning execution; assist with maintenance duties as required.
  • Coach and develop area maintenance and other personnel in preventive/predictive maintenance principles and concepts.
  • Observe maintenance and production employees at work and provide observations, instruction and incident reports as required.
  • Maintain and calibrate production and shop equipment and tools; monitor boneyard and mix tanks as required.
  • Assist with the development, maintenance and implementation of safety programs and procedures.
  • Investigate and assign resources to maintenance needs, provide instructions and guidance as required to support production.
  • Ensure work is completed in a timely and satisfactory manner and evaluate employee performance in work completed.
  • Establish and manage adherence to the operating unit maintenance budgets.
  • Understand and utilize TPM concepts and finished product conformance to requirements.
  • Maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System data base (CHAMPS).
  • At end of shift, secure all equipment, complete all required paperwork and perform general housekeeping and clean-up as required.

The position involves regular work in a wet and/or humid environment, in areas of high noise, around mechanical, electrical, and pressurized equipment. The work is fast paced.

  • Cold Temperatures: Parts of the facility may be kept at low temperatures; cold-protective PPE is required.
  • Fast-Paced: Operations occur under strict production timelines.
  • Standing for Long Hours: Prolonged standing and repetitive tasks are common; may involve lifting and frequent bending/reaching.
  • Food Safety: Follow hygiene and safety guidelines, including protective gear.
  • Team-Oriented: Collaboration to ensure smooth production and packaging.

The position may involve exposure to nuts and other potential allergens.

The pay scale for this role takes into account various factors including skills, experience, training, licensure, and business needs. The pay range for prospective employees in this role is between $35 and $41.88 per hour with opportunities for overtime, shift differential, cold premium pay and annual bonuses (variable depending on company performance).
