Job summary

First Nations Lands Management Resource Centre (RC) and its Lands Advisory Board are seeking a Planner, Land Code Governance to help First Nations develop and implement land codes under the Framework Agreement. You will work with senior RC staff and First Nations to deliver planning solutions.

The role requires formal education in land use planning, professional designation eligibility, strong writing and public-speaking skills, and experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders.

Qualifications

• University or other post-secondary education in land use planning or related field.
• Member in good standing of a professional planning designation group (CIP certification, or eligibility).
• Experience developing land use or other community development plans.
• Experience working with First Nation communities.
• Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders and delivering training.
• Experience reviewing development proposals in line with a community land development process.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development of land use strategies for First Nations under the Framework Agreement.
• Support delivery of the RC’s Land Use Planning Funding Initiative.
• Build capacity with First Nations and develop RC capacity-building strategies.
• Advise RC on land use planning matters.
• Collaborate with field units on land-based planning tools and training activities.
• Review and comment on Land Use Plans and track progress.
