Job summary
Texas Department of Transportation’s San Angelo District seeks a Planner for the District Transportation Planning & Development Office. The role focuses on planning for future roadway project needs, coordinating with design consultants, and maintaining project schedules for construction projects.

TxDOT's San Angelo District is looking for a Planner for the District Transportation Planning & Development Office. Job duties will include planning for the District's future roadway project needs, planning the District's future design consultant needs, maintaining project development schedules for the district's construction projects, and coordinating state and federally funded projects with local governments. This is an exciting and rewarding position as it helps deliver essential projects in our West Texas region. Planner I: B18, $45,521 – $71,055 annually
Planner II: B20, $51,158 – $81,351 annually
Planner III: B22, $57,614 – $93,138 annually
Planner IV: B24, $65,104 – $106,634 annually
Planner V: B26, $76,530 – $129,430 annually
Minimum Salary: 45,521.00
Maximum Salary: 129,430.00
Anticipated Starting Salary : $58,000 - $102,000 annually

Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.
Performs planning and programming activities in support of management-related programs and/or transportation projects. Work requires contact with departmental managers, high-level executives, governmental/university officials and/or private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Performs complex planning and programming activities in support of management-related programs and/or transportation projects. Work requires contact with departmental managers, high-level executives, governmental/university officials and/or private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Performs complex planning and programming activities in support of management-related programs and/or transportation projects. - Assists departmental staff on administrative, technical and regulatory aspects of planning.
- Assists in developing and implementing short-range and long-range local and statewide plans and projects.
- Assists with budget preparation; monitors and estimates future costs.
- Conducts Program Development Meetings with sponsors to identify requirements, exchange information and keep informed on the status of projects.
- Performs planning and programming activities in support of management-related programs and/or transportation projects.
- Provides general information and support to governmental officials, sponsors, users and the public.
- Reviews, evaluates and responds to requests from sponsors for state and federal improvement funds.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
- Develops, and implements short and long-range local and statewide plans and projects.
- Develops and monitors statistical performance measures.
- Administers the public transportation grant program.
- Performs complex planning and programming activities in support of management-related programs and/or transportation projects.
- Represents the Department at local, state and federal levels.
- Coordinates analysis activities and monitors state and federal transportation related issues potentially having a broad impact on departmental activities and develops or oversees development of assessment reports.
- Analyzes state and regional transportation, logistics and supply chain systems.
- Assists with the development and updating of departmental policies and procedures relating to specific program(s) or business area(s).
- Serves as a planning and programming resource for the department, other state agencies, regional and local agencies, port districts and the public.
Education: Bachelor's degree in transportation planning, urban planning, engineering, business admin or related field.
