Amerco Real Estate Company in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a full-time Planner to join the land use and zoning team. You will handle land planning, graphic prep, municipal entitlements, and plan preparation for our commercial portfolio in the U.S.

and Canada, reporting to the Director of Land Use and Zoning and AREC President. This in-person role runs 8 AM–5 PM, Monday through Friday in Midtown Phoenix; remote work is not available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban planning or related field (preferred).
• 4+ years of experience in urban planning or related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Ability to read and interpret complex zoning codes, general plans, and technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Research and analyze municipal zoning codes.
• Negotiate and finalize entitlements with municipalities.
• Process rezoning, tentative maps, development agreements, and variances.
• Attend virtual hearings, pre-application meetings, and present findings.
• Develop and manage relationships with municipal staff and officials.
• Coordinate contracts with outside consultants (land use attorney, architects, engineers).
• Prepare graphics and materials using AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite.

In this position, you will work alongside the land use and zoning team and be responsible for the land planning, graphic preparation, municipal entitlements, and plan preparation of our commercial property portfolio in the U.S. and Canada. You will work directly under the supervision of the management team including the Director of Land Use and Zoning and the President of AREC.
