Job summary

The Ohio Department of Public Safety, Director's Office/Facility Management in Columbus, is seeking a Planner 2. Full-time, 8:00am–5:00pm, in the Charles D Shipley Building.

The role focuses on project compliance, fiscal coordination, and supporting construction and maintenance projects for ODPS. You will prepare memoranda and contracts, develop bid tabulations, monitor budgets using OAKS, Excel, and Access, and recommend cost-control actions.

Qualifications

  • Completion of undergraduate core program or 24 mos. exp. in assigned program area.
  • AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in operational, mathematical, analytical or statistical research methods used in conducting & documenting research studies
  • AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations
  • AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in budgeting
  • AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in technical writing or business communication.
  • OR 6 mos. exp. as Planner 1, 85311, in assigned program area.
  • Assigned program area: Completion of an undergraduate core program or 24 months experience in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Under direction of the Planner Supervisor, acts as project compliance & fiscal coordinator over projects for the Facility Management Office.
  • Assists in preparation memoranda, professional services contracts, construction contracts, escrow agreements, addenda, agreements & other legal instruments for the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS).
  • Prepares bid tabulation worksheets, works with the designer &/or architect assisting in bid preparation & bid tabulation at bid opening.
  • Tracks funds available &/or expenditures for construction projects & maintenance activity using OAKS, Excel spreadsheets & Facility Management Access database.
  • Recommends actions pertaining to cost overruns, release of funds, fund transfers &/or related actions & updates Facility Management procedures as required.

What you'll do as a Planner 2:

Completion of undergraduate core program or 24 mos. exp. in assigned program area (e.g., engineering, landscape architecture, rehabilitation, mental health technology, transportation, physical, behavioral & social science, urban or community planning, natural resources, business or public administration)

AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in operational, mathematical, analytical or statistical research methods used in conducting & documenting research studies

AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations

AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in budgeting

AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in technical writing or business communication.

Option 2:

-Or 6 mos. exp. as Planner 1, 85311, in assigned program area.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

ASSIGNED PROGRAM AREA : Completion of an undergraduate core program or 24 months experience in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
