Job summary

Mayville Engineering Company, Inc. is seeking a Production Planner to support production through sales order management, forecast management, and customer interface. This role develops and maintains production schedules to ensure timely delivery while optimizing efficiency and minimizing downtime.

The incumbent will enter orders, monitor pricing, revise schedules, coordinate shipments, and work closely with engineering to implement changes. Strong ERP and lean principles are desirable.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Two years of relevant experience required.
  • Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles requested.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and production planning software helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Enters sales orders and acknowledges ship dates.
  • Monitors pricing on incoming orders to ensure quotes match.
  • Revises schedules and issues work orders for changes and forecasts.
  • Manages customer relationships and serves as main contact for inquiries.
  • Coordinates scheduled shipments with the Shipping Department.
  • Reviews and evaluates forecasts and bottlenecks.
  • Collaborates with engineering on changes and BOM issues.
  • Expedites late deliveries from vendors or sub-contractors when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

Supports production through sales order management, forecast management, customer interface, and work order maintenance. Develops and maintains production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products while optimizing efficiency and minimizing downtime.

Job Responsibilities

  • Enters sales orders and acknowledges ship dates.
  • Monitors pricing on incoming orders to ensure they match quotes to avoid short pays.
  • Revises schedules and issues work orders to suit order changes, cancellations and/or revised forecasts. Determines revised plan in the event of failures to meet schedules.
  • Manages customer relationships by notifying customers in the event of failures to meet expectations, completing customer requests for information, and serving as point of contact for customers.
  • Coordinates scheduled shipments with the Shipping Department.
  • Reviews and evaluates forecasts.
  • Researches late parts, identifies and brings bottlenecks to manufacturing's attention.
  • Works closely with engineering to implement engineering changes and monitors structure (bill of material) problems.
  • Expedites, as needed, any late deliveries from outside vendors, sub-contract, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements

  • Associate's degree in related field, or equivalent experience required.

  • Prior experience in the manufacturing industry preferred.
