Job summary

EPTAM Precision in Northfield, NH is seeking a Planner to join our team. This role focuses on creating, maintaining, and monitoring the production schedule to meet customer requirements across machining, assembly, and finishing processes.

The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of planning or production control experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in medical devices, and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. APICS certification is a plus but not required.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; internships and PT experience acceptable.
• APICS, CPIM, CSCP or related certification preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain daily and weekly production schedules for assigned machines, work centers, products, or value streams.
• Convert customer orders, forecasts, backlog, and inventory requirements into production plans.
• Sequence work to optimize machine utilization and workflow, adjusting when necessary.
• Establish and communicate planned start, completion, and ship dates.
• Monitor production progress and adjust schedules based on performance and constraints.
• Balance work across machining, secondary operations, inspection, and finishing.
• Use ERP/MRP systems to verify material availability and maintain accurate work-order dates.
• Identify shortages and capacity constraints; coordinate corrective actions.
• Develop recovery plans for late orders, downtime, and material shortages.
• Expedite critical orders and provide Sales with lead times, shipment projections, and recommit dates.
• Participate in backlog, capacity, and S&OP meetings.
• Monitor schedule adherence, on-time delivery, backlog, and capacity utilization.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Planner is primarily responsible for the following:

• Creating, maintaining, and monitoring the production schedule to meet customer requirements.

• Create and maintain daily and weekly production schedules for assigned machines, work centers, products, or value streams.


• Convert customer orders, forecasts, backlog, and inventory requirements into production plans.


• Sequence work to optimize machine utilization, labor, setups, tooling, materials, and workflow, adjusting when necessary.


• Establish and communicate planned start, completion, and ship dates.


• Monitor production progress and adjust schedules based on actual performance, material availability, capacity constraints, quality issues, and changing priorities.


• Balance work across machining, secondary operations, inspection, outside Processing, and finishing.


• Use ERP/MRP systems to verify material availability and maintain accurate work-order dates, quantities, priorities, and statuses.


• Identify material shortages, capacity constraints, and delivery risks. Coordinate corrective actions with the appropriate teams.


• Develop recovery plans for late orders, equipment downtime, quality holds, labor constraints, and material shortages.


• Expedite critical orders through production, inspection, outside processing, and shipping.


• Provide the Sales team with accurate lead times, confirmation dates, shipment projections, and recommit dates.


• Participate in backlog, capacity, customer-priority, sales, and operations planning meetings.


• Monitor schedule adherence, on-time delivery, backlog, work-in-process, shortages, and capacity utilization.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support improvements to production flow, inventory levels, planning processes, ERP data, and scheduling tools.


• Communicate all pertinent issues and concerns to the Procurement/Production Control Manager before they affect customer commitments.


• Represent the company, as required, during customer, internal and ISO audits, as well as FDA inspections.


• Understand the sensitivity of the data handled by systems under your control and take appropriate measures to protect it.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree preferably with a major in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, Manufacturing or related field.


• EXPERIENCE: 2-5 years relevant planning, scheduling, production control, materials management, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment, equivalent combinations of education and experience accepted OR demonstrated ability to execute the Essential Functions for this position. Internships and PT experience acceptable. Experience within a manufacturing, medical device company or other similarly regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
