Job summary

NXTSTP MEXICO is seeking a Master Scheduler to partner with Sales, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to create and maintain a robust production plan that balances customer commitments with capacity, material availability, and business priorities.

You will develop detailed schedules for assigned lines, translate demand into executable plans, and lead cross-functional planning meetings, driving continuous improvement in scheduling and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in production planning, materials management, scheduling, or supply chain planning in manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with scheduling under constraints.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel 5-10%.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and communicate the master production schedule to ensure on-time delivery and efficient plant operations.

Job description

The Master Scheduler partners closely with Sales, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to develop and maintain an effective production plan that supports operational and customer commitments. This role is responsible for creating, communicating, and managing the master production schedule while balancing customer demand, manufacturing capacity, material availability, and business priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Sales, Manufacturing, Logistics, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams to align production priorities.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate the master production schedule to ensure on-time delivery and efficient plant operations.
  • Integrate customer demand with production capacity, material availability, equipment constraints, and workforce planning.
  • Monitor inventory levels and anticipate raw material requirements to support production continuity.
  • Manage schedule revisions and communicate changes, risks, and recovery plans to stakeholders.
  • Lead cross-functional planning meetings and participate in Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE), forecasting, and operational review meetings.
  • Coordinate production planning activities to support new product introductions (NPI) and product launches.
  • Analyze production, supply chain, and customer demand constraints to develop optimized production schedules that maximize efficiency while minimizing costs.
  • Lead schedule recovery efforts and change management activities when unexpected events occur, including equipment failures, material shortages, or urgent customer requests.
  • Monitor plant performance and material flow through daily operational reviews.
  • Develop and maintain production performance reports and dashboards using ERP systems and business intelligence tools.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance planning processes, reporting, and scheduling methodologies.
  • Define business requirements and support software development initiatives that improve planning capabilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
How You Will Do It
  • Develop detailed production schedules for assigned assembly lines over a rolling 12-week planning horizon.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Demand Planning to translate customer demand into executable production plans.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to understand production constraints and incorporate them into scheduling decisions.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain Planning to account for capacity limitations, supplier constraints, logistics challenges, and material availability.
  • Apply Theory of Constraints and production optimization techniques to create cost-effective production schedules while meeting customer demand and operational objectives.
  • Balance production mix, plant efficiency, inventory levels, and delivery commitments.
  • Evaluate multiple scheduling scenarios and recommend solutions that minimize cost while maximizing service levels and revenue opportunities.
  • Support weekly operational planning and executive review meetings through data-driven reporting and analysis.
  • Utilize ERP systems along with reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Excel to monitor plant performance and communicate production status.
  • Drive continuous improvement in scheduling processes through analytics and system enhancements.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification is considered an advantage.
  • 5-8 years of experience in production planning, materials management, scheduling, or supply chain planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience optimizing production plans under multiple operational constraints.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to travel 5-10%.
Preferred
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Demonstrated success driving continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material flow, production systems, and capacity planning.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and its application to manufacturing and process improvement.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and customer focus.
