Job summary

Mesilla Valley Transportation is seeking a Planner to plan trucks for contract customer freight and ensure optimal equipment utilization. The role requires coordinating with pricing, sales, and account management teams to meet service commitments.

Typical schedule is Monday–Friday with possible Saturday hours; the planner will work with account managers and customers to optimize lanes, keep on-time pickups, and maximize fleet efficiency.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in business or logistics or equivalent.
• Three years of motor carrier operations experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite; strong analytical and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensures customer freight is planned for on time pickup and delivery.
• Manages trailer pools in designated market.
• Maintains direct contact with members of the organization to coordinate and increase efficiency of driver, truck, and trailer assignments.
• Balances divisional network at least two to three days in advance.
• Maximizes utilization by minimizing dwell under loads and optimizing load appointments.
• Works with lanes and customer commitments to match inbound/outbound for the area.
• Understands customer KPIs such as trailer pool requirements, service numbers, commitments.
• Collaborates with pricing, sales, and account management teams.
• Collaborates with Account Manager to develop customer accounts.
• Understands driver yield from lanes that touch assignment areas.
• Interacts with customers directly and may conduct in-person meetings if necessary.

The Planner is responsible for planning trucks to service contract customer freight and ensure optimal equipment utilization.

Schedule:: Monday-Friday 6:00am-4:00pm or until work is complete and every other Saturday 8:00am-12:00pm

Responsibilities:

• Ensures customer freight is planned for on time pickup and delivery.
• Manages trailer pools in designated market.
• Maintains direct contact with members of the organization to coordinate and increase the efficiency driver, truck, and trailer assignments.
• Balances divisional network at least two to three days in advance.
• Maximizes utilization by minimizing dwell under loads- specifically, looks for opportunities to re-appoint loads that would be early, looks for opportunities to convert to drop trailer pools with customers, etc.
• Works with lane flow and customer commitments to match inbound/outbound for the areas.
• Understands the area customer KPIs such as the trailer pool requirements, service numbers, commitments (Lanes/Volume and transit).
• Collaborates with the pricing, sales, and account management teams.
• Collaborates with Account Manager to develop customer account.
• Understands driver’s divisional yield off of lanes that touch the assignment areas.
• Works with customers directly to discuss accounts and may conduct in-person meetings if necessary.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business or logistics or equivalent.
• Three years of experience in the motor carrier operations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
• Moderate knowledge of motor carrier operations and geography preferred.
